Last month I ate about fourteen grapefruits in the span of ten days. So of course, last time I went grocery shopping I figured I'd buy the biggest bag of those delectable pink fruits (with the assumption I'd devour them in a few days). Well, it's been about a week and a half and I've only eaten two, so tonight I figured I'd stick one in a salad with candied almonds and spinach. But about half way through slicing up the fruit, I realized how deliciously juicy it was -not unusual for a grapefruit -but since I had five fruits laying around, just waiting to go bad, I decided to juice 'em.
I don't have a juicer. Nor do I have one of those handy little fruit squeezers. Instead I used my hands which admittedly, didn't yield as much juice as the help of a machine would've but it's still tasty and getting sticky was half the fun. To start off, I peeled each fruit, then took different chunks and squeezed them into a bowl. After I got as much juice as I could out, I picked the seeds and overly-pulpy pulps out of the liquid and voila: Tasty fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. I think I will be having a mimosa with breakfast tomorrow, or two. Cheers!
